The main areas of scientific research of the department:
problems of sustainable political development,
public sphere of politics,
anti-crisis political management,
political precariousness, adaptation of students to the educational process,
formation of the urban environment,
characteristics of risks of a sociogenic nature in modern society,
phenomenology of privacy,
regional identity,
sociological determinants of gastronomic culture

2022-2024: “Features of the formation of sustainable (consolidated) democracy in Ukraine: theoretical and methodological, political and institutional and political and communication dimensions” (scientific supervisor – Dr. Political Sciences, Prof. Tretyak O.A.); "Ukrainian Society in the Conditions of Digital Transformation: Challenges, Trends, Opportunities" (scientific supervisor - Dr. Political Sciences, Prof. V. 2025 - to this day, the scientific and pedagogical staff of the department are working on an initiative research project: "State and Civil Society Institutions: New Realities of Interaction, Partnership Factors and Development Prospects in Ukraine" (scientific supervisor - Dr. Political Sciences, Prof. S. V. Stavchenko).
Traditionally, the scientific and pedagogical staff and higher education students of the department conduct empirical research on various issues of public life, as well as self-financing research commissioned by various customers, in particular, the Dnipro City Council, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
