Purpose of the educational program

The purpose of the educational and scientific program is to train doctors of philosophy in sociology, capable of independently conducting original scientific research, producing new theoretical and applied knowledge in the field of sociological science, as well as critically analyzing complex social processes and transformations of modern society.

The educational and scientific program is aimed at forming in-depth knowledge in the theory, methodology and methods of sociological research among applicants, developing research, analytical and predictive competencies, and the ability to work with quantitative and qualitative data, large amounts of information, digital and interdisciplinary research tools.

Graduates of the program acquire the ability to:

• conduct independent fundamental and applied sociological research;
• develop and implement scientific and scientific-applied projects at the national and international levels;
• conduct expert and analytical activities in the field of public policy, social development, education, media and civil society;
• conduct teaching activities in higher education institutions.

The program is also focused on the formation of a high level of academic integrity, scientific ethics, critical thinking and a culture of scientific communication, as well as on the integration of applicants into the European and global scientific space.

The focus of the educational program is to train researchers capable of in-depth analysis of social changes, inequalities, identities, migration processes, social sustainability, mediatization and digitalization of society, using modern sociological theories, methods and interdisciplinary approaches.

Features of the educational and scientific program

• combination of fundamental sociological theory with applied research practices;
• orientation to current social challenges of the Ukrainian and global context;
• use of modern quantitative, qualitative and mixed research methods;
• involvement of applicants in international scientific projects and publication activities;
• preparation for a scientific, expert and teaching career.
